LARS HUIJGEN

LIGHT DESIGN AND SHOWCONTROL

Lars studied at the Amsterdam University of the Arts with a specialisation in light/video design. During his studies, he did an internship with Uri Rappaport. During this he worked with Uri on Productions such as 'Bridge liberation experience', 'Ciske de Rat', 'De Vader', 'Kerstcircus Eindhoven' and 'De Verleiders'.


He also worked as an intern and assistant designer for Alex Brok at the Bregense Festspiele in Austria for the production 'Mose in Egitto'. Following that, he worked as an assistant designer for the Dutch Opera on the production 'The New Prince' and the Dutch Opera Academy on the production 'Hansel und Gretel'.


During his last year of his education he got the opportunity to spent some time in Germany working with video designers at the Muncher Kammerspiele on the productions 'New Beginnings' and 'Dionysos Stadt'.


After his education, he has been associated with among others, De Nationale Operette for three seasons as a set and lighting designer, where he designs the international Christmas production 'Winter in Wien' every year.


Currently Lars is working for Red Trees as light designer and show control specialist.


Qualifications:

Good project organisational skills gained as technical producer and light designer during diverse international theatre productions

Critical thinking obtained as on-site AV coordinator for high profile congresses.

  • Managing the tasks at hand through planning and organizing the workload
  • Making contact with suppliers and brands
  • Predicts resources needed to reach objectives and manage resources in an effective and efficient manner
  • Setting up documentation (drawings, technical administration and specifications)
  • Protects the company’s standards and level of quality and makes sure targets are met
  • Facilitates change requests to ensure that client satisfaction is met
  • Creating light designs fitting with the concept designs.
